We’re building something
SOMA Tool-Share is a concept for a “library of things” and learning center for residents in and around South Orange and Maplewood, NJ. Promoting empowerment, community, and sustainability, the library would include hand tools, power tools and equipment for home/auto/yard that often make more sense to borrow than to own (expensive, large, and/or rarely used). Most items will be donated, and operating income generated from membership fees, grants and donations. The facility can also host events and educational and skill-building classes from local experts.
We are currently in the planning stages, open to ideas and assistance! Our first step is to form a founding committee with a diverse skill set: finance, creative, tradespeople, education, legal (forming a 501c3). We are also in search of a suitable space (ground floor, parking included or nearby). If you’re interested in offering time, expertise, donating, or just keeping up with our progress, please sign up below. We’d love to meet you!
