Borrow, don’t buy! Become a member of SOMA Tool Share and get access to a huge collection of tools for a small annual fee.

Borrowing works a lot like a regular library… Reserve tools on our site and pick them up any Tuesday or Saturday. Use them for a week, return them (or renew online), and start the whole process over again!

Over 1,300 tools — from power saws and drills to shovels and tree pruners — are available to members with no additional fees. In order to keep as many tools in circulation as possible, we charge a fee of $1/day for any tools returned late.

MEMBERSHIP FYI

  • Members get early access and 25% off all classes
  • Borrow up to 15 tools at once
  • Students and veterans get 50% off, email us 
  • If the fees listed don’t work for you, email us
  • Members must be 18 or over
  • Certain popular/seasonal tools cannot be renewed
  • Certain costly/maintenance-heavy tools include a small fee to borrow
